You want to tension the jib halyard as tight a possible without making it difficult to furl, too tight or too loose and it can wrap or pulse as you try to furl it. So the backstay adjuster will tighten the headstay and halyard at the same time, so to speak. As for costs, My Harken set up was more expensive than my Plastimo one! You can adapt your current sail and fit it with a rope luff so that it will fit the Plastimo reefing spar. It’s a bit of a fiddle but saves on the cost of a new sail.
Webb19 juni 2024 · On my 418 I had lots of trouble with the Delta stroking the bow. I changed to a Manson supreme and the anchor does not swing as wildly when leaving the bow roller. The Manson has been on the boat for about 4 months, has been used regularly, and has yet to hit the bow. I have no idea why the amount of swing would be different!
WebbIf you are reefing the sails to this degree, generating power from the sails is far less of an issue than keeping them balanced.
